Matariki

Matariki

Matariki is a time when you get together with friends and family. It's also a sign of the maori new year. Matariki is a cluster of seven-nine  stars the best time to see the cluster is near dawn I predict and hour before dawn. They can be called different things depending on where you live in New Zealand we sometimes call it the seven sisters but maybe in Russia they would call it Pleiades. There are also a variety of tales on how matariki was formed. One of these myths is where Ranginui   the sky farther and Papatūānuku the Earth mother were separated by their children the god of the winds Tāwhirimātea became so angry he tore out their eyes and threw them into the heaven's its a weird myth but Matariki literly means eyes of god or little eyes.

As a celebration of Matariki we did some rotations around the classrooms the activatys were baking fried bread the next one was doing stop motion with playdough. We made myths and my one was how Maui pulled the sun to make days longer you had to work as a team. My team was Genevive,Aysha and Jaimie we all worked together only to make the video but not the auido.
